of physical activity in maintaining optimal blood glucose management. Participants will put together an
individual exercise plan. |

This seminar is geared towards those who are at risk for diabetes
(pre-diabetes) and heart disease. How to maintain a healthy weight and the importance of physical
activity are discussed. |

This seminar will set the stage for the next three seminars. It will provide
practical and easy to use information on maintaining or losing weight. It will also give participants
an opportunity to commit to reaching a goal using the SMART Principle. |

This seminar takes a more in depth look at nutrition. It explains how to
read food labels, describes some of the things to look for (fat substitutes, hydrogenated oils, fiber,
etc) and provides tips for eating at restaurants. This seminar will also help participants
identify their own barriers to why they are not eating as healthy as they could be. It will also give
participants another opportunity to commit to reaching a goal using the SMART
Principle. |

Session 3
|
This seminar explains the three types of physical activity
(aerobic, anaerobic, & flexibility) and provides suggestions on how to incorporate them into a
person’s weekly schedule. This seminar will also help participants identify their own barriers to
why they are not physically active. It will also give participants another opportunity to commit to
reaching a goal using the SMART Principle. |

Session 4

This seminar will give participants an opportunity to discuss what they
have learned about nutrition, physical activity and themselves as a result of attending the
previous three seminars. It will also encourage participants to continue using the SMART Principle
as they set ongoing goals. |

Creating Your Cardio Routine |
This seminar helps participants design their own personal aerobic
exercise routine using the FITT principle. |

Creating Your Strength Routine |
This seminar helps participants design their own personal resistance training
routine using the FITT principle. |
| Taking Care of
You |
This seminar helps participants identify their stressors and guides them
through the process of addressing them. |
| Stress Management |
This seminar looks at the connections between stress, health &
wellness. It also provides participants with information about various stress reduction techniques

Smoking Cessation
(6 week program)
|
This series of six 1-hour seminars are designed to educate, motivate and
encourage people to quit smoking. It teaches attendees about behavioral change, the importance of sound
nutrition and physical activity, stress management, etc. Three seminars are lecture based and three
seminars are group discussions. A group Quit Date is built into this program. |

Understanding Label Lingo |
This 30 minute seminar focuses on how to read a food label. By learning
how to read a food label, participants can meet a variety of health goals, including weight management,
blood pressure and cholesterol reduction, and increasing fiber. |
